How to Solve Some Errors in Silhouette Studio for Windows (PC) version
Sometimes, we just have a lot of problems using Silhouette Studio because the software just crash when we are creating a complex new file, when we just click on the Library and a message appers telling us that Silhouette Studio has a problem or when the software was recently updated. These problems make us feel frustration and we just want to close our PC and go to sleep. But, there is nothing to afraid. Actually, these events are normal and they could happen in any Windows based software.
We are not experts in the Silhouette Studio code, to be honest, we have never seen it. But, we are pretty sure that in some cases any software installed in Windows or Mac can generate problems when is updated from previous versions. The code is modified but some lines don't take these changes and the admin privileges of Silhouette Studio could be lost or removed at all. They way the Operating System and the software interact can be broken and the best solution in all cases is try a complete uninstall Silhouette Studio and install the latest version from zero according to these steps:
Important note: These steps should work in Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 and all Silhouette Studio releases. There are not the last word or the fancy method to solve all the problems but there are simple and easy to understand so go ahead and try them.
------ Uninstalling Silhouette Studio -----
1. Close Silhouette Studio.
2. Tap the Windows key on the keyboard or click on the start button and type "Control Panel" and enter. If you are using Windows 7 you will be able to see the Control Panel from the list in the right margin.
3. In the Control Panel window go to the top right side and in "View by:" select "Category".
4. After that, you will see at the bottom of the window the folder "Programs" and below of it, click in the option "Uninstall a program".
5. Scroll down until you see the Silhouette Studio icon and double-click on it. You will ask if you are sure before start the uninstallation.
6. Once the uninstallation has finished, tap the Windows key on the keyboard or click on the start button and type "%appdata%" and enter. The "Roaming" folder will be open and you have to delete these folders:
- com.aspexsoftware.Silhouette_Studio
- com.aspexsoftware.studio_helper
- com.silhouettesoftware
7. Tap the Windows key on the keyboard or click on the start button and type "%temp%" and enter. The "Temporal files" folder will be open and you have to delete all the files with the word "Silhouette".
8. Tap the Windows key on the keyboard or click on the start button and type "%programdata%" and enter. The "ProgramData" folder will be open and you have to delete these folders (If you have installed the Silhouette Studio Designer license or the Business license, please be sure you have a copy of the serial number before continue):
- com.aspexsoftware.Silhouette_Studio.8
9. Go to the Recycle Bin icon (Generally at the top left of your PC), right-click on it and click on "Empty".
10. Now, you have deleted all Silhouette Studio software and folders in your PC and you are ready to install the latest version of Silhouette Studio. Close all the programs and folders in your PC and restart it.
------ Installing Silhouette Studio -----

If you want to install a different version but supported by Silhouette, you will be able to see all the available releases on this link: https://www.silhouetteamerica.com/software/legacy-software.
1. Double-click on the Silhouette Studio.exe application (Generally named: silhouette-studio_v#.##.###). When the installer is launched, click Next to proceed. Don't modify the default parameters unless you know what you are doing and continue with the installation process.
2. In the final step, you will be ask to lauch the Silhouette Studio software, don't check this option and click on Finish.
3. The Silhouette Studio icon will apper on the Desktop. Right-click on it and select the option Run as Administrator. In this case, you are going to open the software with full privileges to access and modify all the folders that it needs to work properly.
